Who can create an account on Book-Swap?

Signing up is free for everyone - you just need to be over 18.

How do I create an account?

Our sign-up process is quick and easy - it only takes 90 seconds! You can sign up using your email address, or with  Google or Apple account.

What information is needed to get started?

You can start using Book-Swap as soon as you’ve signed up, however, there are some things you will be prompted to provide when you use certain features. This can include verifying your mobile number and providing your bank details or payment method so you can make subscription payments. Please be assured that all your details are secure and protected with the utmost care.

Are there any rules to follow on Book-Swap?

We have a set of Community Guidelines for our Users/Posters, that you agree to when you create an account. These guidelines have been created in line with the Terms of use, and are in place to help all members have a fair, enjoyable and safe experience on the platform.

How many books can I post on Book-Swap?

There are no limits on how many books users can post on Book-Swap.

We also ask that you don't post duplicate books on the site: 

All listed books must be unique. Please do not post the same book over and over again across categories or locations. Only post the book where you are physically located. 

These restrictions are in place to prevent users from "spamming" the mobile app with duplicate content.

How do I sign up?

Download the App and select the Sign-Up button. You can sign up using your email address, or with a Google or Apple account.

Signing up and creating an account on Book-Swap is free as long as you are over 18. For more information, check out our Community Guidelines.

What account details do I need to set up my Book-Swap account?

To ensure you make the most of your Book-Swap experience, we encourage you to complete your profile by providing all your personal details.

To post books, We require these details for two primary reasons: to maintain safety and security on our platform and if you are subscribed to additional features then you have a smooth experience with billing on monthly or yearly basis. 

Rest assured, your information is treated with the utmost care and is never publicly available. We take the protection of your personal information seriously and it is securely stored in accordance with industry standards. Please make sure you have added the following essential information to your account to have the best experience while using the app:

  • Profile picture

  • Full Name

  • Email

  • Date of birth

  • And below additional details as shown in the screenshot

How do I add a profile photo to my account?

To make your Book-Swap profile more personal, add a picture! It's easy to do and can make your profile more unique. Just follow these steps to upload your photo and create a more individualized experience for yourself and others.

1.       Go to Profile, which you can find by clicking on the profile icon on the bottom app bar.

2.       Click on your profile photo.

3.       Select a picture of yourself that you'd like to use as your profile photo. Make sure it truly represents you and your personality.

At Book-Swap, we value trust and transparency, which is why we encourage all members to have a profile photo and display name that reflect their true selves. Here are some reasons why having a photo of your face is beneficial:

·      When people can see your face, it helps build trust. It creates a sense of familiarity and makes interactions more authentic.

·      We prioritise the safety of our community. Having a recognizable profile photo ensures that individuals are not anonymous.

Important note: Book-Swap reserves the right to remove profile photos and display names that are deemed inappropriate. We want to maintain a welcoming and respectful environment for all. Additionally, it may soon be a requirement for all members to have a clearly identifiable profile photo and name, so it's a proactive step to get ahead of the curve.

How do I manage my notification preferences?

If you want to change your notification settings, please follow the steps below:


iOS or Android App:

  1. Log in to your Book-Swap App

  2. Click 'profile' on the bottom menu.

  3. Click on 'notification preferences'.

  4. Select which notifications you wish to receive. Your settings will automatically save.

Can I add multiple cards to my account?

You can only have one active payment method (any credit card or debit card with Visa or Mastercard logo) at a time.

View, add and update your payment information through the steps below:

  1. Log in to the app and go to your profile page.

  2. Select Payment options

  3. Choose credit or debit card, you’ll be able to add or update your details.

I forgot my password, how do I reset it?

f you can't remember your password, you can easily reset it at any time. 

To reset your password:

  1. Go to sign in page and click on the Forgot password

  2. Enter your email and click Send the reset link

  3. An email will be sent to you with further instructions on how to reset your password

We suggest that you consider these tips for keeping your account secure:

  • Make a strong password by using a combination of letters, numbers and symbols that don’t look like identifiable words.

  • Use a unique password for each of your online accounts.

  • Don't save your password details onto shared devices.

I can't log in, what should I do?

Here are some steps to help you log in:

  1. Check your username and password  

    The most common cause of login issues is simply mistyping your username or password. Make sure that you are using the correct username and password for your account. If you can't remember your password, you may be able to reset it using the forgot password on the login screen.

  2. Check your internet connection
    If you're sure that your username and password are correct, the next step is to check your internet connection. Make sure that you are connected to the internet and that your connection is stable. If your internet connection is weak or unstable, it may prevent you from logging in.

  3. If you're using the Mobile App - Update your mobile app to the latest version
    If you're using our mobile app, make sure that you have updated to the latest version. Sometimes login issues can be caused by outdated versions of the app. You can check for updates in your device's app store.

  4. Contact our support team
    If you've tried all of the above steps and are still unable to log in, please contact our support team for further assistance. Be sure to provide as much detail as possible about the issue you're experiencing, and attach a screenshot of any error messages you're seeing. You can contact us here.

The app is not working. What should I do?

f you encounter any problem using the Book-Swap App, the best initial action is to check if you have the latest app version on your device.

Updating the Book-Swap app allows you to apply new features, changes, and bug fixes. 

If the app is already updated on your device and you still experience some problems, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

1.       Log out of your account

2.       Uninstall the app

3.       Restart your device

4.       Download and install the latest app version
